Flexeril pills are prescribed in dosage increments of 5, 7.5, and 10 milligrams. They are taken orally, two to four times a day, for up to three weeks. You should not drink alcohol while you are taking this medication as it can exacerbate the negative side effects.

Pregnancy: Tell your physician if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing an infant. If you become pregnant while taking Flexeril, call your doctor.

Interactions: Provide your doctor with a complete list of medications you are currently taking, or have taken in the previous two weeks, including vitamins and supplements. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to cyclobenzaprine or any of the ingredients in Flexeril. Let your doctor know if you are taking antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, SSRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, sedatives, tranylcypromine, opioids, seizure medication, or medication for colds or allergies.

Medical Conditions: Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, difficulty urinating, glaucoma, or thyroid problems (including hyperthyroidism). Tell your doctor if you are 65 or older as the dosage may need to be adjusted.
