Oral granules should be taken with soft food like mashed potatoes or pudding once a day for six weeks. Do not put the granules on fruit-based foods like applesauce. Sprinkle an entire packet of granules onto a spoonful of food. Swallow the granules and soft food without chewing. Oral granules are used to treat infections on the scalp.

To treat a fingernail infection, Lamisil oral tablets are taken once per day with or without food for 6 weeks.

To treat a toenail infection,  Lamisil oral tablets are taken once per day with or without food for 12 weeks.

Your fingernails or toenails might not return to normal until a few months after finishing Lamisil. This is because it takes time for healthy nails to grow back. Do not take more Lamisil without talking to your doctor.

Ask your doctor for more dosing information related to your specific condition.

Tell your doctor about all of your allergies and about all other prescription and non-prescription medications, supplements, and vitamins that you are taking. Be sure to mention if you are taking amiodarone, beta blockers, caffeine supplements, any TCAs, MAO-B inhibitors, SSRIs, or rifampin.

 

If you have liver disease, your doctor will probably tell you not to take Lamisil.

Tell your doctor if you have HIV, AIDS, lupus, or any other condition that weakens the immune system.

This medication may cause increase sun sensitivity. Before prolonged sun exposure, prepare by using sunscreen and protective clothing.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Side effects may include melancholy, indigestion, headache, itching, sun sensitivity, diarrhea, changes in sleep patterns, or lack of energy during the day.

Call your doctor immediately if you experience: nausea, vomiting, symptoms of allergic reaction, dark urine, blood in urine, pale stools, blistering or peeling skin, signs of liver disease (yellowing skin or eyes, pain in the upper abdomen), fast or irregular heartbeat, mouth sores, or chest pain.
