The prescription drug Livalo is available as tablets. The starting dose is 2mg, and it's taken once daily by mouth with or without food. Your doctor may adjust you to a lower dose (1mg) or to the maximum dose (4mg) in order to achieve the best results.
Do not take this medication if you have had abnormal liver enzyme tests, have or have a history of liver disease, if you are breastfeeding, or if you're taking cyclosporine. You may not be able to take this medication if you have a thyroid disorder, if you have or have a history of kidney disease or disorder, or if you drink more than two alcoholic beverages daily. Always tell your doctor what other cholesterol lowering medication you're taking.
