This drug is given to patients with ITP when other treatments have failed or not been possible.

Promacta is classified as a thrombopoietin receptor agonist, and it works by causing the cells in the bone marrow to produce more platelets.

The average recommended maintenance dose for Promacta for the treatment of chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), and hepatitis C is 50 mg once per day, and a maximum of 75 mg once per day. Consult with your doctor for dosage and use information for this drug for the treatment of your condition.
